Think Before You Act

Think Before You Act

So I make a little over $7.00 an hr working as a cashier in a certain truck stop. I’ve been working there almost 1 1/2 yrs and I’ve dealt with some of the biggest assholes on the planet. People are just plain rude and obscene and think that because I’m the one behind the register, that any and all things that go wrong with their pumps, the card readers, or prices are MY FAULT. When are people going to realize that I’m not responsible for anything that goes wrong with you and your “truck stop experience.”

The only upside to things is they’re CONSIDERING me for a promotion, but even that’s not guaranteed and they could just be getting my hopes up. I swear if I have to deal with assholes and people being OH SO PICKY with their freaking change I’m gonna burst. I know that I have stress issues, considering customer service jobs are ranked as the highest stress jobs. I either need to get promoted and not have to deal with all the people as much, or leave and find another job. I’ve already attempted factory jobs and I just can’t seem to want to stay there longer than a few months because of the work conditions. Being stepped on no matter your job, whether it be from customers or your managers simple isn’t healthy. People need to really realize who we are behind the cash register; We’re simple not just change counters, we’re real people with real lives. Robots can’t do our job (yet), so until then, perhaps next time you go into a store of any kind and have a complaint, take it up with the MANAGER, don’t be rude to the cashier. And next time you’re thinking about being picky with your change so you can give a $1 to receive a $5 back instead, DON’T! It’s a waste of time, money all spends the same, and chances are its ANNOYING THE SHIT out of the cashier.
