Ok, so I’ve been a nurse’s aide for 2 and half years. I work 12 hour shifts, 7am-7pm..ugh..and I spend that 12 hours wiping shit and piss off the bodies of fat and old people. It’s really not so bad, I guess you get used to it but come on. I usually have about 7 patients that I have to take care of throughout the day. I have to give them bed bath’s, feed them, help them with whatever…bascially be their bitch.
Some of the people I hate the most as patients…I hate people that are so overweight that when I’m washing them I have to hold their stomach flap up with one hand and clean under it with the other, and the hand that is holding the flap is shaking so bad I could die because it’s so heavy. Then there’s the old ladies who think their shit doesn’t stink. Had this one lady today, who after I made her bed told me she didn’t like the blanket I put on her bed…we only have one kind of blanket I told her…But she proceeded to ask me to find one that was a little bit thinner. So, I came back with the same blanket and said “here ya go, this one looks good” and she loved it. Ugh, they are so annoying. They just constantly bitch about everything.
Oh jeez and then there’s the people who send me to the kitchen 80 times. I’ll go in a patients room and they say “can you get me a glass of juice”, so I go get the juice and then they say “Oh ya, can you get me some crackers too”…so I go back to the kitchen, and then back to them “can you get me a popsicle?” HOLY SHIT. just fucking tell me everything you want at the same time instead of making me do 10 seperate trips tot he kitchen for your fat ass.
I’m not even going to talk about the smells. I clean up diarhhea (sp? lol), puke, piss, have old people fart in my face, clean up the bodies when they die and bring them to the morge (sp? again). ugh…and to put the fucking cherry on top I work with a bunch of females (i am a female too) who constently talk behind your back, and I’m not only the patients bitch for the day, I’m also the nurses bitch. Ugh, I’m tired, and have only one more hour of work left.
