I work for a Chamber of Commerce, which is a non-profit
organization. My position is administrative assistant (aka I
DO EVERY FUCKING THING IN THE OFFICE!!!!!). I know I am the
peon or whatever you would like to call it, but I am the most
educated, most computer efficient person in this office. The
job isn’t that hard I guess, I do get to play on the
internet, download music or whatever and the co-workers are
like my 3rd family (cause I only have 2 coworkers, one being
my boss), but I have to put up with a lot of bullshit
everyday.
What really gets me are the phone calls we get, now I guess
people hear the words Chamber of Commerce and automatically
think, Telephone Directory. People call and want numbers to
all sorts of places that are in the freakin phone book. It is
terribly annoying and I guess they think that is the only
thing we do here in this office is wait for the phone to ring
so we can look up a phone number for them. Then I get the
people who don’t listen when I answer the phone and clearly
say, “_______ Chamber of Commerce, this is ______.”, and they
say, “Is this the Chamber of Commerce?” I just want to say,
“Did you not hear what I just said, you fucking dumbass?” But
of course, I can’t and that really sucks. Working a job like
this, or practically any other job makes you realize how
stupid people can be. UGH!!!!! I hate it. Other than the
countless stupid phone calls we get my job is pretty good,
but I don’t plan on being here the rest of my life.
