Job Rants - I Make Too Much Money

Unlike many of your ranters, I have a very different problem.  I make too much money to leave my soul sucking job.  I have a job at a huge corporation and have managed to work my way firmly into the ranks of middle management (or maybe a bit higher than that).  If I keep at it, I could retire (in a modest "Your Money or Your Life Style") in 5 years (I'll barely be 40). Sounds great, huh?

But I hate it. I hate the bureaucracy. I hate the office politics. I hate the constant management changes. Constant strategy changes. Everything is derivative, "borrowed" from elsewhere, recycled five years to late. I somewhat sympathize with the underlings who specialize in figuring out how not to get things done, but all I really want to do is build great (not horribly mediocre) products and have a reasonable amount of fun while doing so. If I can stick it out, I could choose not to work.  I could stay home and do nothing for a year if I wanted. I could spend all my time doing volunteer work.  I wouldn't have to work for "the man."  How can I stick it out without going crazy? Well, might be too late for that, I've already started therapy to try to help me make it through. Good thing I have decent benefits.
